The lighthouse was built in 1868, the lighthouse keepers and their families lived in this building for a long time, until it was automated in 1987. At the northwest end of Belle-Île-en-Mer. In Breton, "Beg-er-Bolenn" (point of isolated rocks) was the firstz name of the place, French for Pointe des Poulains.
